83th update: Metropolis 2/?
update v10.8
The "Metropolis" update serie will include tons of new buildings and elements for your city, with the goal to supply a complete and realistic city tileset
let's start with updating the street and sidewalk tilesets with many new round corners and new ways to personalize your city from the ground, literally
- Added the traffic circle road signs (they can be also be used for big turns with a piece of the traffic circle)
- Added a traffic circle traffic sign and an eletric pole (side and front, modular)
- Added a new street light (3 variations) + a light animation for each one (flickering version in the last 4 frames / 8)
See you and happy game-making! :)

I love that Rond-point
I like that you are starting the 'Metropolis' series from a foundational level. Starting with the roads and streets. I am excited to see what will come. Keep up the great work!
Flickering lights, need a Crow!
Great idea, Crows are coming to the town! <3
woah, very nice! How do the light beams work? Somewhere not walkable anything works, but if I wanted a character to walk under them, some kind of layering would be needed I think 🤔
Mmhhh yes you could place the animated one over the static one and give different collisions to them! Would it be useful to have just the light beam on a separate spritesheet?
Yeah I think that’s what would be most practical, if I layered them like that it would stop me from using any layer effects (you can do that with some engines, overlay or additive layer to make stuff shiny underneath) because the pole would also look shiny 🤔
in fact it would be best to separate the circle on the floor as well as that would probably be walked on. so you’d have from top to bottom
pole
light above (additive)
character
light below
since you should also have access to layer effects on your art program you can look at how it’d end up— they’ll work the same way coz it’s just math. Grab a sprite you have and slide it under, see how it ends up looking with no effort~!
(fun fact. it’s called additive because all it does is add up the numerical values of the colors, which are all between [0,1]. closer to 1 means more white. multiply is also a literal multiplication, with any number smaller than 1, aka darker than white, you’ll get a smaller number than what you started with, so a darker color. That’s why multiply makes your color darker. Blend modes are neat.)
These will be super useful for doing more dynamic buildings like a fancy hotel front with a curved drive! :3 Could even put a fountain or garden in the center for flair! The ideas are multiplying, lol!
Great prompts here! I totally need to draw some fountains for the traffic circle center!
I didn't know I needed this until today, Thank you LimeZu
Ahahahah the more you need ~ you are welcome Ghost! <3
